Coaching in General
The main task of the coach is to teach people how to play singles, level and mixed doubles and to improve the performance of the players in those games.

In addition coaches should also know how to: ensure the safety of players when coaching; plan programmes and organise sessions; deal with accidents and general emergencies; work with other coaches and other bodies. In fact coaches are expected to be competent in all the various activities related to coaching players in different venues.
The Badminton England Coach Education Programme
From 2004 therer will be a new coaching structure with 5 levels. The award courses focus on how and what to coach so that candidates are well prepared to go and work with players and really help them to improve. The new award structure will educate coaches to develop the skills that are relevant to where they want to work in badminton. This will mean that we create a development pathway for coaches so that through gaining the appropriate experience and educational levels they can realise their potential. The awards will be linked to the Long-Term Athlete Development Model for badminton and in the future to the National Coaching Certificate so that they are kept up-to-date with cutting edge thinking and national standards in coach education. The award course structure is intended for everyone who wants to be involved in badminton coaching in England whether they want to be an assistant coach at a junior beginner session or an Olympic coach working with the best players in the World.

For more detailed information look at Badminton England's web pages.
